Text à Black Snake Download Black SnakeThis book has changed my view of Ned Kelly I had previously bought into the myth of a poor battler against police harassment a Robin Hood bushranger sharing the spoils with his fellow poor an erudite commentator on injustice and a brave and flamboyant character wearing imaginative armour His effigy appeared at the Olympic Games in 2000 This myth is a reversal of the facts He was a bully thief murderer and hostage taker His famous last stand at Glenrowan was a cruel and dumb act A thought provoking book with good photographs maps and documents

Text à Black Snake Download Black SnakeWhat a book I loved it This book is well written and an amazing read It is nice to finally have two sides to the historymyth of Ned Kelly and his Kelly Gang and an explanation to their actions and major events in historyFor years we have been told and shown about Ned Kelly through movies books and stories but Leo Kennedy brings another side to the Ned Kelly mythstory He delivers well researched facts and information but also a direct family link to the story He does not hide this link nor push it on the reader He brings a clear explanation to look and understand from the other side It made me stop and think about the knowledge that I already knew and unders

Text à Black Snake Download Black SnakeWhilst I understand the noble intentions of the authors this story of Kelly read like a woe is me novella Selective referencing does little to enhance the foundation of Mr Kennedy’s claims and there are a number of facts presented by him that are at odds with a great number of other reputable sources All you need to know about this version of the story is ‘spare a thought for those that were killed by Ned and his gang’

Text à Black Snake Download Black SnakeThe parts of this book about the Kennedy family were very moving and the ongoing impact on the family of the growing myths of Ned Kelly as hero challenge the view that people should just “get over things” But the need to challenge everything eg uestioning Ned Kelly’s defence team and calling the creek from which Ned had saved a young boy when he was a lad as a muddy waterhole in a dry creek detracts from the whole message I would have liked to read about the life of the Kennedys Glad I read this to get a different perspective

Text à Black Snake Download Black SnakeEvery story has two sides doesn’t it This is the “other” story of a Ned Kelly and his gang told by Tom Kennedy a descendent of one of the police shot by Kelly Kennedy disputes a lot of what history is laid down as fact over the years and works hard to separate man from myth This is all very noble and probably needs to be done given the rise of Kelly as a h

Text à Black Snake Download Black SnakeWhat begins as a fatuous and enthusiastically biased telling of the opposing side matures into a very engaging revision of the Ned Kelly myth Bravo Leo Kennedy This book is sure to rattle the established romanticism of anyone who thinks themselves an admirer of the Australian battler icon

Text à Black Snake Download Black SnakeI have always wondered why we as Australians seem to honour Ned Kelly when he was a bushranger or criminal for want of a better word We have this stigma attached to the law and it always appears that we depict police as the enemy; hence why we have programs like Underbelly made which appears to glorify criminal behaviour Does this come from the fact that when England invaded it set the country up as a penal colony Is this why the law appears to be ridiculed and shunned by some of usAnyway Black Snake The Real Story of Ned Kelly is written by a family member of Michael Kennedy who was murdered by Ned Kelly and his gang It is very informative and also distressing that such a story can be distorted to depict the police as criminals and the real criminals as heroes It totally baffles me and I hope that the families of the murdered

Text à Black Snake Download Black SnakeI enjoyed this book and read it over the course of one evening and the next morning The key point is that the legend of the Kelly Gang has displaced the reality of what life was like for the various farmers and small land holde

Text à Black Snake Download Black SnakeI think this book fills an important void in the popular understanding of Ned Kelly and the Kelly Gang Whilst they are an important element in Australia's story I think they are romanticized and remembered for the wrong reasons Ned Kelly was a liar theif and murderer and should be remembered as such I do not agree with the hero worship or the myths that have sprang around the Kelly storyThe author's personal connection and bias is clearly evident in this book and he certainly doesn't hide the fact that he has an axe to grind In a historical aspect this co
